I care about getting the right support for children and families. It is so important to spend time really understanding the needs of the people that I work with, you can trust me to hear you and you can trust me to give you advice that works for you.
I won’t take on your case if I don’t believe that I can help, and if I don’t think that I can help with an assessment I will do my best to advise you what your next steps should be.
I only charge for the time I put into the assessment process, my initial consultation and any follow-up is free.
I am an experienced Expert Witness and I specialise in comprehensive assessments for parents that are applying to, or working through the EHCP process, and those appealing Local Authority SEN/EHCP decisions relating to Speech and Language Therapy provision.
I offer local services and assessments to families in Cumbria and can travel across the UK for consultations and specialist assessments.

I can also provide assessment and bespoke therapy services which meet individual needs. I offer professional, person-centred services, and work alongside parents/carers and teachers to support your child to develop their communication skills. I believe in building on your childs’ strengths, so I will always assess their communication skills prior to therapy.
My name is Tracey, I am an Independent Consultant Speech and Language Therapist with decades of experience and training working in the education system in the UK and internationally. I have also worked as a SENDCO in the UK, so I have a good deal of experience of the UK education system and Special Educational Needs (SEN) from a health, clinical and an educational perspective. Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) Consultation, Assessment and Report
My EHCP assessment process is designed to give you clarity and the strongest possible evidence for your child’s needs. It includes:

A full case history which includes discussion with you and those involved in your childs’ education, and a review of all existing reports this allows for a complete understanding of your childs’ Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Formal (standardized) and informal assessments tailored to your childs’ profile, this delivers a ‘whole’ picture of needs and strengths, and will describe the unique communication needs of your child.

Functional observation across tasks and contexts, alongside individual testing, observation in everyday environments provides an overview of how your child communicates, learns, and regulates throughout their day as opposed to just demonstrating how they may respond in a formal test.

Detailed analysis of Speech, Language, and Communication needs, written in clear, parent‑friendly language.

A ‘tribunal‑ready report’ adhering to legal frameworks:

A precise, evidence‑based description of needs (Section B)

Specific, quantified, outcomes and legally enforceable recommendations (Section E & F)

A follow‑up call to talk through the findings, answer questions, and where needed to discuss next steps.

Optional attendance at tribunal or professional meetings (additional fee).

My typical turnaround from first appointment to final report is 2-3 weeks. However, I can offer an urgent turnaround on request.

Fee: £495 plus travel*
Duration: Up to 8 hours
NB: Additional time required for liaison, reading of documentation, additional assessment etc. will be charged at £65 per hour and will always be discussed and agreed with you in advance.

Up to 5 miles - Free
Over 5 miles - £0.50 per mile or £30 per hour depending on the complexity of the journey.
